A woman in New Zealand says she went to the emergency room after a piece of chicken bone became lodged in her throat following a visit to one of her favorite restaurants. The doctor then made a rather unusual suggestion of drinking four cans of coke as treatment to help break down the bone. This isn’t a typical prescription but doctors have made the recommendation before in order to avoid invasive surgeries due to the acidic nature of the drink. Did the coke actually dissolve the chicken bone or just help flush it down? Either way, let’s hope we aren’t headed toward a future of soft drink prescriptions!
