Starbucks Is Updating Its ‘Bring Your Own Cup’ Policy

Changes are happening at Starbucks! Not only did the popular coffee chain just release a new Winter menu, but Starbucks has also updated its 'Bring Your Own Cup' policy.

The expanded menu for winter doesn't just cover drinks. There are some exciting food options coming our way, as well.

This week, Starbucks added a new drink to its permanent menu with the Iced Shaken Hazelnut Oat Milk Espresso. Sounds as delicious as it is long. Seriously, that's a mouthful. Hopefully a tasty mouthful, at that. The new drink has a blonde espresso base, shaken with hazelnut syrup, and then topped with oat milk, per People.

For the winter, Starbucks announced it will be re-introducing the Pistachio Latte and the Pistachio Cream Cold Brew. Those will both be available for a limited time only. The chain unveiled the drink last year and it was incredibly popular.

As I said earlier, it's not all about the beverages. This winter, you'll be able to get the new Potato, Cheddar, & Chive Bake while supplies last. There's also  a Vanilla Bean Custard Danish available for the Winter. I'm a sucker for the Iced Lemon Loafs, so it will be hard to pull me away from those.

Additionally, Starbucks has made changes to their Bring Your Own Cup policy. Now, you'll be allowed to use your own clean, personal cup for every visit at Starbucks. That includes in-store visits, drive-thru, and mobile orders. According to Starbucks.com, "Starbucks is the only national coffeehouse in the U.S. to offer customers the option to use their personal cup when they make a mobile order and the first in Canada to offer mobile order for all drinks and sizes."

This is an important decision. Not only for us as customers, but for the bigger picture. The move shows Starbucks commitment to reduce waste by 50% by 2030. Allowing customers to use their own cups instead of creating more garbage will be helpful in achieving that goal.

Starting this week, customers can use their personal cup at the drive-thru and on mobile orders. Previously, you could only use the cups in-store. Now, you can score that sweet, sweet discount any way you'd like. If you choose to use the drive-thru, just tell your barista that you brought your own cup.
