Teenager Busted For Allegedly Taping Fish To ATMs

There's something fishy going on with this story. A teenager has been busted for allegedly taping fish to ATMs in Provo, Utah.

Even worse? He documented his actions on social media. That will often lead to you getting caught!

According to ABC4, the Provo Police Department said there were roughly 13 instances where the 17-year old taped fish to ATMs and other objects. One video seems to show three trout taped to a police car.

The displays were shared on Instagram account "fish_bandit84." The now viral account has quickly gained more than 52,000 followers and has been posting since August of 2023.

Now, the question is if that person did all of the fish jobs or if they are merely curating the content and pranks they've found and come across.

The bio for the Instagram account describes its content pretty clearly, "Live, laugh, tape fish on ATMS."

According to ABC4, the teenager is now facing two charges of property damage, stemming from the cost of cleanup.

Police say the case was closed in December, but won't speak further on the matter as the case is still being processed, per ABC4.

However, that's not all! There's also a TikTok account under the same name that shows fish being taped to ATMs and other objects. Those other objects include stuff like the back of a bathroom stall door. Great. As if bathrooms don't already smell enough! That will certainly help.

On TikTok, the account has shared several videos with clever captions and content. For example, there's one where they warn of "phishing" scams. Clever word play.

Then, there's also appropriate fish for the appropriate location. Clearly, the individual is putting some serious thought into this. It's not all just wilding out. Check out where he decided to place a Bass.

While committing crimes may seem black and white (you either broke the law or you didn't), there are certainly some crimes that are dumber than others. None of these would accidentally happen. They also aren't a matter of life or death. There's no ethics quiz here, or any matters of 'would you steal bread to support your family?' These crimes, and criminals, aren't straight up cringeworthy.
