Are humans now too dumb for Scrabble? Unfortunately, it’s starting to look like it. Who’s to blame for the game being deemed “too intense?” Look no further than Gen-Z.
Now, an easier version of the game is available that’s more collaborate and Gen-Z friendly. What’s next? Clue with only two rooms? Connect Two? This is going to get ridiculous.
Are Humans Now Too Dumb For Scrabble?
Boomers take most of the heat online when it comes to different Generations. However, Gen-Z is not looking good this time around. They’ve already been blamed for spoiled fashion, the internet, and comedy. Now, they’re coming for our board games!
According to BBC, Mattel is launching a new version of Scrabble that’s designed to be more collaborative and accessible for those who find word games intimating. Wait, what? That’s the whole point! The point of these games are to make you think and to be a challenge. Now, we want to take that away? Ugh.
The new version, which is being dubbed ‘Scrabble Together,’ will allow people to compete on teams instead of individually. Look, I understand board games aren’t for everyone. That’s why we have other alternative options like video games. If you find Scrabble too difficult, play Super Mario or an easy card game like Crazy Eights! Just play Words With Friends on your phone! I think that’s still around? I don’t think we need easier versions of board games.
Via BBC, BBC Radio 4’s Gyles Brandreth said, “The makers of Scrabble found that younger people, Gen Z people, don’t quite like the competitive nature of Scrabble. They want a game where you can simply enjoy language, words, being together and having fun creating words.”
BBC notes that this is the first time in the game’s 75-year history that Scrabble has made a significant change to its classic board.

Peep Show: The Best Of Chuck The Freak
Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
