3-Year-Old In Iowa Seen Walking The Street With A Loaded Gun
According to KCRG, a woman in Iowa City, Iowa is facing multiple charges after her 3-year-old child was discovered walking down the sidewalk carrying a loaded handgun. That mom, Samantha Hall, is now being charged with making firearms available to a minor and child endangerment.
Police say the 3-year-old in Iowa was seen walking in the 1600 block of Vesti Lane around 7:47pm with a loaded handgun. Thankfully, a passerby noticed and took the handgun away from the child and took him back to her home, per KCRG. Wow. Good thing they happened to be in that area when they were! If it was another person maybe they wouldn’t have been so kind or maybe they wouldn’t have noticed what was happening. Good on that good Samaritan for stepping in and doing the right thing.
KCRG reports that Hall claims she was cleaning the house and didn’t realize the child had walked off. She acknowledged that she keeps a handgun in her nightstand but was unaware that the child had taken it and left the house with the gun. It’s noted in KCRG‘s report that the handgun was left on a short nightstand presenting a great risk to the child’s safety.
Hopefully, Hall realizes how lucky she is that she was able to get her son back. So many things could have went wrong in this situation! He could have accidentally fired the gun and injured (or killed) himself or another person. Additionally, leaving the house could have meant even more problems as he could have been taken or hit by a vehicle! Thankfully, the child is okay.
