Florida Man Allegedly Tries To Shoot Down Walmart Delivery Drone
According to WESH, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about a Walmart delivery drone that was shot. There was reportedly a bullet hole in the payload that the drone was carrying. Eventually, witnesses were able to identify Dennis Winn as the suspect and directed deputies his way which was also the location of the incident, per WESH.
After some discussion, WESH reports Winn admitted to police that he shot the drone with a 9mm pistol. He was taken into custody and charged with shooting an aircraft, criminal mischief damage over $1K, and discharging a firearm on public or residential property. There is no information on his motive or why he wanted to shoot down the Walmart delivery drone. Perhaps it scared him? He could have been threatened by it? Or it could have just been an excuse for some target practice. No matter what the reasoning or logic was in his head, you are not allowed to do this.
Back in 2022, Walmart announced it would be rolling out drone deliveries in the state of Florida via a company called DroneUp, per Click Orlando.
