North Carolina Man Leads Police On A Highway Chase
According to WRAL NEWS, a North Carolina man led State Highway Patrol on a highway chase on I-87 and I-40 that ended with a barricaded suspect. That suspect has since been identified as Chad Vernon Clark, 47, of Pittsboro, North Carolina. The chase reportedly began around 10:54pm and law enforcement even attempted a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver to bring the car to a stop, but it was unsuccessful, per WRAL NEWS.
WRAL NEWS reports that during the chase, officers lost sight of the vehicle before later identifying the suspect pulling into his residence. That’s when the suspect reportedly ran into the home and officers could not get him to leave. Finally, Highway Patrol was joined by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and Pittsboro Police Department and were able to get Clark into custody around 5am–roughly 6 hours after the initial pursuit, per WRAL NEWS.
Clark has since been charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, speeding, reckless driving, driving while license revoked, and failure to heed to light or siren. Thankfully, nobody was injured during the highway pursuit or during the barricade.
