Crazy High-Speed Chase Ends In Florida Swamp
We’ve talked about many high-speed chases on Dave & Chuck The Freak. However, I don’t think there’s been a single example that’s ended with something like, “…and then they got away.” It just doesn’t seem to happen in these types of chases. Typically, they’re appended and arrested after causing some chaos. Well, this time is no different.
According to The New York Post, an alleged carjacker was arrested in Florida after he knocked over a cop with a stolen vehicle and then led police on a high-speed chase that ended in a swamp. The alleged carjacker has been identified as 20-year-old Ah’lijah Aman Mah’di Balk. Bodycam video from the Port Orange Police Department appears to show the moment Balk is confronted by police while parked outside an apartment complex in Dayton Beach in a car that was reported as stolen. In the video, an officer is seen pointing either a taser or a gun at the suspect demanding he step out with his hands up, but the suspect does not comply. Instead, Balk tries to back the vehicle up causing the car door to send the officer to the ground.
That’s when the chase began and Balk’s vehicle scraped the front of a police cruiser on his way out of there. Eventually, the suspect loses control of the car and comes to a stop. That’s when Balk jumps out of the car and flees on foot, even losing a shoe in the process. However, he quickly finds himself in a swamp and is tackled to the ground.
Balk has since been charged with a long list of crimes including: aggravated battery and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, grand theft motor vehicle, petit theft, criminal mischief, and unlawful possession of another person’s ID, per The New York Post.
