New York Drunk Driver Crashes Into Bass Pro Shops Pond
A New York drunk driver crashed into a Bass Pro Shops pond! Now, he’s facing several charges following the single-car accident.
The incident happened in Auburn, New York. When law enforcement arrived, the truck was seen sinking into the pond. Thankfully, the driver was able to safely exit the vehicle. However, now he’s facing a long list of charges.

That would have been a shocking sight to witness! Those ponds are supposed to be scenic and set the mood for your shopping experience at Bass Pro Shops. You aren’t supposed to end up in the pond!
According to WSYR, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a black Ford F250 that had crashed into the pond that’s in front of Bass Pro Shops in Auburn near Finger Lakes Mall Drive and Clark Street. The driver was able to exit the vehicle safely. He has since been idenitified as Thomas Hurst. Police were able to determine that Hurst was intoxicated while driving the truck, per WSYR. He’s been charged with Driving While Intoxicated (a felony) due to a previous DWI-related conviction within the last 10 years and other citations for vehicle and traffic violations, according to WSYR.
Hurst was arraigned and is expected to appear in the Town of Aurelius Court at a later date. You can check out his mugshot provided by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office below.
