Delivery Drivers Warning About Trending DoorDasher Scam
There are so many scams out there it’s hard to keep track of. There are grandparent scams, bank scams, and now there’s DoorDasher scams. No matter what, it’s important to always use common sense. That comes first.
Recently, a DoorDash delivery driver took to TikTok to share a scam he became aware of and doesn’t want others to fall for. The scam starts with the would-be scammers ordering something cheap or free such as a single sauce packet from Taco Bell, per Daily Dot. After that, the drivers receive a call from someone saying they’re with DoorDash and the order was fraudulent. In actuality, the person calling is the person who ordered the sauce packet trying to gain access to your account so they can access your credit card info and more. It sounds like there have even examples of the caller pretending to be law enforcement.
So, if you are a Dasher and don’t want to fall victim to this trending scam then pay attention and use common sense! If you see an order come through that’s too small to be believed and they didn’t spend any more (or as little money as possible) you might be a target! In the video, Lamon Reccord, aka @favoritelifecoach on TikTok, gives a warning to DoorDashers about this unique scam in the TikTok video below. It sounds like this isn’t exclusive to DoorDash and is happening to UberEats drivers, as well. Have you heard of this happening to someone? Let us know! Be careful out there. Don’t let your side hustle end up costing you money! That could be a tough hole to get out of.
