Florida Man Shoots A Bear In His Yard To Save His Puppy
A Florida man had to shoot a bear in his yard to save his puppy! That would be quite the scare letting the dogs outside and running into a bear!
We’ve talked about lots of surprise attacks in people’s own yards on Dave & Chuck The Freak. Remember the little girl who hammer threw a snake in an effort to save her pet Guinea Pig? People will do whatever it takes to save their pets. That includes shooting at a bear which is what a man had to do to save his puppy.
Florida Man Has To Save His Puppy From A Bear In His Yard
That would be a scary way to start your morning. Probably wouldn’t need that extra cup of coffee that day. The incident happened in Fort McCoy, Florida in Marion County. The man and his 2 dogs are both okay. However, the bear was shot and killed during the run-in.
According to Click Orlando, 31-year-old Jesse Tittle shot and killed a bear to save his puppy after letting his dogs outside around 5am. Legally, he has nothing to be concerned about because Florida recently made it legal for people to kill animals on their property if they’re defending themselves with House Bill 87. As a part of the law, shooters must notify the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) within 24 hours of bears being killed and they are not allowed to possess or sell bear carcasses, per Click Orlando.
It sounds like shortly after he let his dogs outside early that morning he heard the 2 dogs barking aggressively from a nearby yard. He called them over but one didn’t come back and that’s when he saw what was happening. He tells Click Orlando, “I noticed that it was a bear. I called the dogs, cand only the big dog came. Me and him kind of wrestled around here, and I was trying to hold him down. He wanted to go back because he wasn’t coming back,” meaning the other dog wanted to go back and help the missing pup! When Tittle saw the bear near his puppy he reportedly fired a warning shot to scare the animals but the shot struck the bear, killing it, per Click Orlando.
He doesn’t want to have to hurt any animals to protect his dogs and property and hopes that a better solution can be found. It sounds like seeing bears around his property is not an uncommon thing. Tittle tells Click Orlando about the bears he always sees around, “The bears are sitting on the porch waiting for you to push the door open. They’re breaking in the cars and windows to grab lunch sitting in there from earlier that day. It’s not the bears’ fault, but it’s not the people’s fault, either.” See a video report from News 6 on YouTube below.
