Is someone peeing in candles at an Indiana Dollar Tree? That’s what’s being alleged and it is not how you want your candles to smell.
A mother is allegedly that her 9-year-old daughter was exposed to a possible health hazard while smelling a candle at an Indiana Dollar Tree. It happened in South Bend, Indiana and it sounds disgusting.

I think we are all guilty of picking up candles at stores and giving them a sniff sometimes. You might be curious what that specific scent smells like or you might want to see what it would smell like inside your home. It’s understandable. However, you never expect urine to come out of it when you pick it up to smell it. It sounds like that’s what happened at this Indiana Dollar Tree.
According to WSBT, Adreanna Shelton and her 9-year-old daughter Gray were at the Dollar Tree on South Bend Avenue looking for a gift for Gray’s teacher when little Gray reached for a candle on the shelf. They can make great gifts, everyone can use a candle! However, that’s when they noticed something wasn’t right. Shelton tells WSBT, “We’re smelling candles, and she picked up a candle to smell and tilted it back and it literally, liquid, went down her. At first we were like maybe it’s just water, and as we were just walking through the store we get a foul smell and Gray goes, ‘mom my shirt really stinks.'” That smell was urine sitting inside the candle on the store shelf, per WSBT.
Naturally, Shelton went looking for answers inside the store. She talked to a manager who offered her a shirt as a replacement. It turns out that they aren’t the first ones to have this problem! Shelton tells WSBT, “They have been telling me this has been happening over a month, and they’re not able to catch the person doing it, and there’s no cameras down the aisle where he is doing it, so the store employees, the manager, has asked corporate to put in cameras in those areas. And corporate just doesn’t want to pay for those.”
Shelton has since filed a report with the South Ben Police and they are now investigating the matter. I’d never leave the house again if I spilled pee on myself at a Dollar Tree. Can you imagine if this happened to you?

Crimes can happen anywhere, anytime, to anyone. However, it takes a very unique individual, a case study if you will, to commit some of these outrageously dumb crimes. Years ago, these criminals would have been featured on Spike TV or one of those America’s Dumbest Criminal shows. Today, I’m not sure if those shows are around…and I’m certain Spike TV isn’t around anymore. That’s a story for another time.

Crimes can happen for a number of reasons. They may happen out of necessity. They could also happen on accident. These crimes, however, do not fall into those categories. These crimes are different. None of these would accidentally happen. They also aren’t a matter of life or death. There’s no ethics quiz here, or any matters of ‘would you steal bread to support your family?’ These crimes, and criminals, aren’t straight up cringeworthy.
