Did a 26-year-old woman work herself to death? That's what her mother is alleging after her "relentless" work schedule.

If you think you work a lot, you might have to start re-thinking things. You might complain that you "feel like dying" or that the work is "killing you" but what you might not realize is--it actually could be!

This really puts working too much into perspective. Having a good work-life balance has never seemed more important. I'm sure at some point all of us have complained about our work, but this changes things. A day in our shoes doesn't sound so bad now.

According to People, officials have opened an investigation into the death of 26-year-old Anna Sebastian Perayil who worked for Erst & Young in Pune, India until her untimely passing. Now, her mother is claiming that she was suffering from an "overwhelming workload," per People. More details about her death were not immediately available. However, her mother reportedly wrote a letter that has since gone viral online detailing how her daughter worked tirelessly at the company saying in part, "the workload, new environment, and the long hours took a toll on her physically, emotionally, and mentally," per People.

Things are looking pretty shady! People reports that the company did not have a permit that regulated its work hours. Shobha Karandlaje, the natioal government's union minister of state for micro, small, and medium enterprises and labour and employment took to X (formerly Twitter) to say that they were looking into the matter and allegations of an unsafe and exploitative work place. Ernst & Young said in a statement to People that they offer their deepest condolences and are fully cooperating in the matter.

Rajiv Memani, India's chairman for Ernst & Young, said in a statement obtained by People, "I have conveyed my deepest condolences to the family, although nothing can fill the void in their lives. I truly regret the fact that we missed being present at Anna's funeral. this is completely alien to our culture. It has never happened before; it will never happen again. I am absolutely committed to nurting a harmonious workplace, and I will not rest until that objective is accomplished."

Don't overwork yourself! If you get PTO or sick days--use them! Don't feel guilty taking a sick day or a vacation--you deserve it! Far too often are we too afraid of what will happen if we take that day off, but sometimes it's for the best.
