Speeding is dangerous. Speeding while wearing a mask and costume is even more dangerous. Now, Cookie Monster has been busted with his hands in the cookie jar, figuratively, as he was busted speeding in Germany! Unless that's just someone dressed up like Cookie Monster?
Cookie Monster Caught Speeding In Germany
Traffic cameras can be really helpful. They can monitor the roads and catch people breaking the laws. I'm sure they can also be alibis and some good can come out of them for the drivers too. If you run a red light or are speeding these cameras can get images or videos of you as proof you were doing it. This time around the cameras spotted a familiar face speeding--that of Cookie Monster.
When law enforcement is looking through these photos they probably never expected to see Cookie Monster behind the wheel of the car speeding in Germany. They had to have been really surprised when they saw it and it probably got a laugh. According to The Mirror, a traffic camera in Dortmund, Germany shows the moment a speeding driver dressed in a Cookie Monster costume went flying down the highway going 60. Now, police are looking for the prankster who police believe deliberately sped past the camera in hopes of getting photographed in the outfit. That was one thing I was wondering--what's the story here? Either he's a professional Cookie Monster impersonator late for a gig or it's somebody doing a prank, right?
It sounds like the alleged Cookie Monster was going 60 in a 50 mile per hour zone and law enforcement is concerned about not only speeding but speeding while wearing a costume that obscures the driver's view could result in an accident that could even be fatal. Police spokesperson Peter Bandermann tells The Mirror, "The fun of wearing a mask from the Muppet Show can quickly turn serious. It won't help the relatives of a person who has been killed if the person who did it tearfully regrets their mask fun in court." If found, the driver could face a fine. The car is reportedly registered to a 57-year-old man from Hagen but it's not clear if he was the person behind the wheel or not (hard to tell as they're wearing a Cookie Monster costume). 5 of the Craziest Cringeworthy Crimes Ever Committed
While committing crimes may seem black and white (you either broke the law or you didn't), there are certainly some crimes that are dumber than others. Sometimes it's the crime itself that's wild, other times, it's the people committing said crimes. These are 5 of the craziest, cringeworthy crimes ever committed.
Crimes can happen anywhere, anytime, to anyone. However, it takes a very unique individual, a case study if you will, to commit some of these outrageously dumb crimes. Years ago, these criminals would have been featured on Spike TV or one of those America's Dumbest Criminal shows. Today, I'm not sure if those shows are around...and I'm certain Spike TV isn't around anymore. That's a story for another time.
Craziest Crimes
Crimes can happen for a number of reasons. They may happen out of necessity. They could also happen on accident. These crimes, however, do not fall into those categories. These crimes are different. None of these would accidentally happen. They also aren't a matter of life or death. There's no ethics quiz here, or any matters of 'would you steal bread to support your family?' These crimes, and criminals, aren't straight up cringeworthy.
While all of these crimes are crazy and certainly cringeworthy, they also make for excellent conversation pieces. That's why I've gone and found five examples of the wildest stories that Dave and Chuck the Freak have talked about and made a list highlighting the best of the best. Let's be honest...what's better than reading a story about one of the craziest crimes ever committed? Or, watching Dave and Chuck the Freak talk about some of the dumbest crimes ever committed? Personally, I'm going with the funny storytellers.
They add their own two cents and perspectives on these stories that nobody else could provide. Not even those talking heads on the dumbest criminal shows. Am I the only one who remembers those? I feel like they were a staple on TruTV or VH1, but now all I can find on TruTV is Impractical Jokers, which is awesome but...you get it. Let's not delay! Here's the list!
