Washington Jewelry Thieves Try To Flee On A Rowboat

A pair of Washington jewelry thieves tried to flee on a rowboat! I don't know if I've ever seen anything like it.

If Hollywood is accurate, having a reliable getaway is crucial to executing a crime. There are often trained professionals who are responsible for the getaway, like Baby Driver. Maybe they're a skilled driver, maybe they have a fast car, or perhaps they have a disguise like a garbage truck to go unnoticed. You never know in movies. However, what I've never seen in a movie (or real life for that matter) is thieves trying to flee on a rowboat. Well, until now that is.

Reports say deputies arrested a man and a woman who were accused of stealing thousands of dollars in jewelry and then trying to escape on foot, by car, and then trying to flee on a rowboat. If it's not the first of its kind it's definitely one of a few.

It all happened in Jefferson County, Washington and the ordeal started around 8am when a Jefferson County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a burglary from a shipping container, per KOMO News. It was reported that a man and a woman had just stolen $11,000 in jewelry from the container and were getting away in an SUV. That SUV was eventually located but was involved in a rollover crash near Port Gamble. The man and woman were then seen walking away and police tried to stop them but they managed to flee on a rowboat! Law enforcement then used a drone to record the suspects' attempted escape on the water.

Later, they ditched the rowboat and swam to shore where they were arrested. Both of them are expected to be booked into the Jefferson County Jail and it is not yet clear if the stolen jewelry was recovered. You can see a video report from KOMO News on YouTube below.

Have you ever seen anything like that? It's definitely one-of-a-kind and a very unique getaway. I'm not sure if it was planned or just an accident but it might give ideas to future criminals looking for a clever getaway. They're running from the cops and are sure to already be in a lot of trouble, they don't care about damaging your car during the incident at all.

Sometimes, the videos are captured by news crews in cars, other times the video is captured on camera by a helicopter, and sometimes it's captured by a civilian on the scene. Thanks to social media, everyone is a journalist these days. Hopefully, you can hear the sarcasm in my voice when I write that. Pros and cons to that.

The country watched as Simpson and a friend led police on a chase that lasted roughly 2-hours as they went from Orange County to Brentwood, per the Los Angeles Times. Now, 30 years later, it is still synonymous with car chases.

Clearly, there was no stopping this person. A Chevy Camera leads police on a crazy chase in this video. It all happened after a robbery at a GameStop in Houston, Texas. Commenters on the video point out that at least he used his turn signals during the chase. Most don't choose to do that. I'm sure it was appreciated by all parties involved.

This video is definitely crazy! It currently has more than 42 million views on YouTube. In the video, a man leads authorities on a dangerous car chase after he stole a truck. He hits several other vehicles on the road during the chase. I certainly would not want to share the road with this person. It's dangerous out there.

This chase was all over the place. It starts on the road, but ends in a neighborhood with residents fearing for their safety. It happened in Santa Clarita, California. The video has more than 37 million views on YouTube. This chase gets wild and aggressive!

During O.J. Simpson's famous car chase, they weren't going at ridiculous speeds. This case is a bit different. This high-speed chase through Los Angeles ended when the vehicle slammed into a power pole and flipped over! This is definitely a must-see car chase. Check it out above!
