Looking to get away to do something fun for New Year's Eve this year? A new report just named the best places to be on NYE!

When you're young, New Year's Eve is one of the most anticipated holidays of the year. You stay up late, enjoy some refreshments, party, and hopefully get a kiss at midnight. It's a lot to look forward to! However, as you get older it seems to become more of a burden. I'm supposed to stay up until midnight? There's a $35 cover charge at your go-to watering hole? Bah-humbug! Maybe it's time to bring some fun back to New Year's Eve. Before you make plans you should know that some cities do it better than others and a new report by WalletHub names the best cities in the United States for New Year's Eve. Some of them might be obvious while others come as a surprise.

Are These The Best Cities For New Year's Eve?

As you likely guessed, New York City comes in first place on WalletHub's list of the best cities for New Year's Eve. This one should not be a surprise. The ball drop in Times Square is the most popular and iconic ball drop in the world. It's where all the action is. Maybe even too much action, it always looks like a mess of people all jammed together and if you're claustrophobic it is likely not the place you want to spend your NYE.

While New York gets most of the hype, it does seem like a lot of attention has been on Nashville the past couple of years, especially this year. There's a ball drop special to watch from Nashville and I've been hearing a lot about that. Nashville could be a good option if you're looking to have some fun on New Year's Eve without having to deal with all those people. I'm sure there will still be a lot of people there but nothing compared to Times Square. However, Nashville surprisingly didn't make WalletHub's list. Instead, Orlando, Florida came in 2nd place. Likely due to Disney World. I can see them going all-out for New Year's Eve. San Diego, California comes in 3rd and the top 5 is rounded out with Las Vegas, Nevada and Chicago, Illinois.

San Diego was a bit of a surprise for me. I have never heard about their NYE celebrations. I know they have amazing year-round weather which might make it a good draw in January. Las Vegas makes sense because if it's a party, it's happening in Vegas. I've never done a New Year in Vegas but can see it being a lot of fun. I have done a couple of New Year's Eve celebrations in Chicago and it was a great time. It is obnoxious how much bars will charge for cover on that day. You have to plan pretty far ahead too which can be annoying so maybe find a house or apartment party to enjoy instead of hitting the bars.

You can see more on WalletHub's list of the best cities for New Year's Eve here. Would you consider traveling to any of these places if you're looking for something new on NYE? Cheers to 2025!

5 Highly Anticipated Movies Coming Out In 2025

There are some big movies coming out in 2025! Which ones are you most excited about?

As 2024 comes to a close, it's time to start looking ahead. Some big movies came out in 2024 including Deadpool & Wolverine, Inside Out 2, Wicked, and Gladiator II. Those are probably some of the most memorable movies to come out this year and might be what the year is remembered for as far as blockbusters are concerned. Movies coming out in 2025 might be even bigger and more anticipated than the ones that came out in 2024--and that's really saying something.

What Are The Big Movies Coming Out In 2025?

In 2025, we'll see some outstanding originals, sequels, live-action remakes, animated movies, and more! There are some big things coming to the big screen--not to mention all the excitement coming to TV and streaming. The 5th and final season of Stranger Things is going to have us all on Netflix, but we'll have to make sure to find some time to go to the movie theater as well because you don't want to miss out on these movies. They'll certainly be the talk at the watercooler and it's important you stay in the know.

With only 5 to discuss below I'll have to name some Honorable Mentions because there are too many great movies coming out in 2025 and I'd hate to leave any unmentioned. A Minecraft Movie will be interesting to see how it can compare to Barbie and if these movies based on toys will continue to be a hit or if it was a one-time fluke. With Jason Momoa and Jack Black it's sure to bring in some money in the box office.

Thunderbolts is one of the many superhero movies coming out in 2025. Marvel has been in a bit of a dry spell lately, will this be enough to bring them out of a slump? Only time will tell. There's another superhero movie that seems to be getting more attention and we'll get to that later. There will be a new Karate Kid with Karate Kid: Legends coming out in 2025. There's also Ballerina from the world of John Wick and stars Ana de Armas and I will certainly be seeing that.

Additionally, in 2025, we're going to get a live action version of How to Train Your Dragon and those animated films are all great so I expect big things from this. There will also be a new Jurassic World movie with Jurassic World Rebirth, hopefully that can bring some juice back into the franchise. The last movie wasn't great so a good rebound is in order here for the sake of the franchise. We'll also be getting a new I Know What You Did Last Summer and Freakier Friday, too! Then, you can't forget Wicked Part 2 with Wicked: For Good coming out in November of 2025.

However, the movies I think will be biggest can be found below. Are you excited to see these movies coming out in 2025?

Disney's Snow White

It will be interesting to see the live action remake of Snow White. I've been iffy on a lot of the Disney live action remakes with seemingly none of them being better than the original. Could this finally be the one? We'll have to wait and see but I think we'll be hearing a lot about it in the new year. It hits theaters March 21st.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Regardless of how you feel about Tom Cruise, you have to admit these movies are always good. It's not even about him doing his own stunts, which is cool, but they're consistently quality films. I hope they bring it to a close in a good way. I was disappointed with how the recent James Bond movies ended and would hate to see this go a similar way. The movie comes out in May.

28 Years Later

You're going to see a lot of Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the future. Not only is he Kraven The Hunter but he's also set to be the next James Bond. He'll also be starring in 28 Years Later the sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. Those were some good movies and I expect this to be great. The movie comes out June 20th.

Superman

I've never been that impressed by Superman movies. In fact, I usually feel pretty let down. It's a bit of a bummer especially when you compare it to Batman and Spider-Man which both have plenty of excellent movies made recently. Could James Gunn turn things around? I feel like Superman needs it and maybe we'll get new life into the Man Of Steel with this new movie. I certainly hope so. It comes out July 11th.

Avatar: Fire and Ash

Finally, Avatar 3 will come out in 2025. I feel like we're always waiting forever for these sequels but you can't say it's not worth the wait. Who knows what kind of visual craziness we will experience in Avatar: Fire and Ash but I'm sure it will be great. Now it's just a matter of waiting.  It comes out December 19th of 2025.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
