Woman Arrested For Naked Photoshoot On Popular Seaside Structure

A woman was arrested in Mexico after her naked photoshoot on a popular seaside structure. She got the photo though!

Reports say 30-year-old Olga Larrea was the woman seen in video footage stepping on the base of the popular La Perla sculpture in La Paz, Mexico and then stripping as a photographer with her was ready to capture the naked photoshoot. After tossing her dress at the photographer, she reportedly climbed on top of the monument which seems to be a pearl resting in an open clam. She posed and got some shots before signaling to her photographer that she was done and ready to climb down, per Daily Mail. However, she was approached by law enforcement and placed under arrest. You can't do that, even in Mexico.

Daily Mail reports that Larrea, a resident of Mexico City, was taken to the local prosecutor's office and paid a fine of 3,365 Mexican peso (which is roughly $163) before being released. Not a bad punishment! Doesn't seem like that will scare many people away from repeating this type of behavior. Although I can't help but think she couldn't possibly be the first person to get a naked picture in front of the giant clam. It's like the Bean in Chicago but with a bit extra. It's probably a big draw there.

Larrea clearly got the shot she was after as she reportedly shared the naked photoshoot on Facebook but ended up deleting them. You can see some of the photos shared by Daily Mail here. It doesn't seem like she really learned her lesson here. She was later quoted being critical of the authorities who arrested her and got her in trouble for not granting her the right to express her self freely. Daily Mail reports that she wrote, "Guess who was arrested for simply existing? Why is the human body censored, but not violence? Nudity is not offensive, it is natural. Let's stop the shaming, reclaim our freedom and normalize what is human."

While she doesn't see it as being a big deal, some commenters online are not as happy about what she did and seem to care. They've made comments like, "Let her show off her body in another place where it is allowed to go nude, where she does not damage any sculpture," per Daily Mail. It seems like many people are upset by the possibility of damaging the sculpture than they are about her being naked. Another commenter couldn't help but notice the lack of any real punishment and suggested that being prosecuted would probably keep people from doing this instead of a simple fine.
