A Chinese man somehow survived after a 15-inch rod went through his head! He had to go through 10 hours of surgery but he made it through!

You would never expect to survive a 15-inch rod going through your head. How could he have survived that? You'd think he would be a goner for sure. However, it must have been at the exact right spots. According to NDTV, X-rays showed the metal rod was merely 2mm away from damaging critical areas of his brain--but it missed. Now, he's alive to tell the story. How crazy is that?

Man Lives After 15-Inch Rod Went Through His Head

NDTV reports that it happened while the man was having dinner with co-workers at a restaurant. The man, identified as Mr. Aqiang, got drunk and when he stood up, he slipped and fell onto a table and there was a long metal rod on said table which thrust into his mouth when he fell onto it, per SCMP. Sounds like blood poured out of his mouth. That would be a horrific sight to see and sounds like it gave his co-workers quite the scare. They called an ambulance and he was taken to the hospital.

Doctors at the hospital said, "This foreign object carried a lot of bacteria. The path it penetrated the patient involves his mouth, eyes, and brain. Any small, careless operation might lead to a fatal problem," via SCMP. Sounds like the top of the rod had a metal clip on it which made removing it even more difficult. However, they were able to remove it safely. He had to stay in the hospital for a while to properly prevent infection and such but he was discharged after a month's stay in the hospital.

He will have to deal with some vision issues but his language and movement functions weren't affected, per SCMP. He's lucky to have survived that! Imagine a metal rod going through your mouth and up into your brain area! Yikes! That's terrible to think about.
