A flight from Detroit to Los Angeles made an emergency landing to save a dog having a medical emergency. You don't hear about that very often!

Usually, when a plane has to make an emergency landing it's because there's something wrong with the plane or maybe a passenger on board. Very rarely does that passenger happen to be a dog! Travel website View From The Wing is saying it's the first time they've ever heard of an emergency landing for a pet. Thankfully, the dog is expected to make a full recovery!

Flight Makes Emergency Landing To Save Dog

View From The Wing reports that Delta Air Lines flight 694 from Detroit to LA was diverted into Minneapolis, Minnesota after a dog became sick and the carrier determined that it needed emergency veterinary care. Personally, I love that they made that choice. It could have been very easy for them to say they're going to continue on as planned because it's not like a human is sick. They could have easily done that but made the decision to make an emergency landing to save the dog. How could you not love that? Well, maybe if you're one of the passengers who had to wait through the delay--but c'mon!

In the end, it sounds like they only ended up being 145 minutes behind schedule, and it sounds like the dog is going to be okay. Worth it! Delta tells View From The Wing, "The safety of our customers and people comes before everything else at Delta. That's why Delta flight 694 diverted to MSP to ensure a cabin pet that became ill received proper care."

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
