Is your name on the list of "Dad Names" that are dying out? Some names are showing our ages, I guess.

On Dave & Chuck The Freak, we often joke about old people and their driving habits. They can be dangerous on the roads! We've come to notice that many of the seniors we talk about have names that seemingly fit grandparents and older people like "Myrtle" or "Ethel." These are commonly known as "grandma names" because not many people in the younger generations have these names. They've died out and become less popular over time. However, time is going by fast and now names that were once common and popular are starting to show our age! They're becoming known as "Dad Names" and there are some on the list that might come as a surprise. It's a rude awakening that we're getting older. Did your name make the list?

These Are The 'Dad Names' That Are Dying Out

According to Daily Star, some of these Dad Names that are dying out include Steve, Colin, Gary, Nigel, and Barry. Obviously, Daily Star is a British source as Nigel has never been a very popular name here Stateside. Other names that Daily Star says are dying out include Roger, Tyrone, and Phil. Less and less people are naming their babies those names it sounds like. That's true. I guess I don't know any Phils my age. Certainly don't know a Roger. Again, that could be more of a UK thing than it is here.

Did your name make the list? What names are going to be next to die out? It could be yours! I wouldn't mind if my name became less popular. Of course, I have a very unique name, so that's never been a concern for me. I have to imagine that many kids would like to be known as the only "Steve" in their class so they're not dubbed "Steve F" or something. You want to be unique!

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
