A New York teen was arrested after apparently breaking into a jail for a selfie. It's not worth the trouble!

It's amazing what people will do just to get a selfie. Do people even care anymore? I don't know if it's really even worth it, honestly. I think the internet has moved past being impressed by selfish things like that and now just see it as a stupid move for attention. People risk their lives and legal trouble just to try to get selfies places. They'll go dangerous places, high up places, forbidden places, and more. Sometimes they end up dying trying to get that selfie for social media and other times they get arrested. This time around, it's a 19-year-old from New York who was arrested after he was accused of breaking into a former jail and locking himself into one of the cells. He has since been freed by police but was arrested for trespassing.

According to WNYT, that teenager is 19-year-old Cody M. Mallon, from Argyle. The trespass happened at the former Downstate Correctional Facility in Dutchess County. Can you imagine locking yourself into a cell at a former jail? You'd instantly know you're trapped and it's not like someone is regularly coming by. Who knows how long you could end up there? It would be scary!

He was eventually freed and arrested, being charged with 3rd-degree criminal trespass. He's expected to appear at the Town of Fishkill court at a later date. This is why you don't go to extreme lengths to try to get a selfie! It rarely ends up good and even if you get it and share it on social media...who cares?

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
