A man set his car on fire and used the insurance money to attend a soccer match. Now, he could be in trouble with the law and his wife.

Honestly, I'm not sure which one is going to be worse. One one hand, he has to deal with his wife and how angry she's going to be that he set the car on fire and used the money to watch his favorite soccer team. On the other hand, insurance fraud is no joke. The government is definitely going to want to speak with him regarding that. Having his story go viral certainly isn't going to help anything either.

According to BroBible, the man is a fan of the Argentinian soccer team River Plate which is one of the biggest clubs in the world. That means their fans can be quite dedicated and we're seeing that now. He really wanted to see his team compete in the Club World Cup in the US, played at the Rose Bowl, and he was willing to go very far to make that dream happen--including setting his car on fire to get insurance money.

Sounds like he initially tried to sell it but when that didn't work he opted to go for the insurance money. He gave an interview to the Spanish soccer show "El Chiringuito" and shared his love of his team and the sport with them ahead of the game.

BroBible reports that he collected $10k in insurance money which was able to pay for him to go to the game. He's now reportedly expecting to be handed divorce papers upon his return home. The matched ended in a 0-0 draw. How soccer is that?

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
