If you have been slacking on going to the gym recently, maybe this will be the motivation you needed to get you back in the game. If this 100-year-old New Yorker can do it then so can you! What's your excuse? Geraldine "Jerry" Leo is the 100-year-old New Yorker who just turned 100 in April and while she may be that old she certainly doesn't seem to feel that old! She's got more energy than I do! See her get at it in a video report shared by PIX11 News on YouTube below!
100-Year-Old New Yorker Is A Fitness Star
According to PIX11, Jerry is the pride of Bay Shore's Great South Bay YMCA. She works out with people half her age and stays with them! Sounds like she's been working out at that very Y since it opened its doors 34 years ago. That's commitment. She explains to PIX11 that it's her elixir of life saying, "The only thing I do is exercise faithfully. I don't eat red meat, have a good diet, Mediterranean, they call it."
People around her and who work at the Y rave about her great spirit and energy. People younger than her say they can't keep up with her sometimes! That's awesome. She's not all about fitness though. She admits she does have an occasional drink. Her drink of choice is an Aperol spritz which makes me love her even more. Have you ever had one? They're fantastic and refreshing. Good choice, Jerry.
