Are you in need of a "Coolcation" this summer? It's currently a popular summer travel trend!

What is a "coolcation?" It basically means skipping the summer heat and traveling somewhere with cooler temperatures during the hot summer months. Instead of a beach vacation, it's a getaway to the mountains, lakes, or forest. This is nothing new but it's gaining popularity and seems to be happening more. Just like people seek out warm vacations and destinations during the cold winter months. Why shouldn't it work both ways?

Are You In Need Of A 'Coolcation' This Summer?

Gabe Saglie, a senior editor at Travelzoo, tells HuffPost, "A coolcation is one of the newer post-COVID travel trends--people seeking out cooler-climate vacation spots, especially during the warmer summer months. Some popular travel destinations are seeing risking temps, making them too hot for comfort for some, so heading to alternative places that see more pleasant daytime temps is gaining in appeal."

Countries like Spain and Italy have seen heat waves recently making them less than ideal vacation spots during hot summer months when temperatures could be more mild. Additionally, HuffPost points out that coolcations could be good ways to avoid crowds. Who wants to wait around for reservations? You're on vacation and you've got stuff to do!

HuffPost recommends somewhere like Tokyo during September and October and Portugal in March. Would you consider going on a coolcation? I think it's starting to sound pretty good after the recent heat wave.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
