Florida Cop Busted Picking Someone’s Pocket During Traffic Stop

A Florida cop has reportedly been busted picking someone's pocket during a traffic stop! You'd never expect that to happen.

You always hear officers are around to "protect and serve" but I'm not sure which category picking someone's pocket would fall under? That would be wild to realize that you were robbed by an officer during a traffic stop. However, it can happen! It's just really rare, I would imagine. Now, 28-year-old Justin Register has been arrested and charged with petit theft which is a first-degree misdemeanor, per FOX 35 Orlando.

FOX 35 Orlando reports that the incident happened during a traffic stop in which Register arrested a driver for not having a valid license. When other deputies arrived as backup they noticed him placing the driver's wallet and phone in his patrol car's truck. He was later seen returning to the trunk several times, per reports.

Later, the driver's daughter arrived and requested custody of his belongings. Register reportedly returned the wallet which included $82 from his wallet. However, the driver claims the wallet originally had $300 in it. Register was later observed unzipping a rifle bag and pulling out some folded cash. The incident was reported to a supervisor which prompted a criminal investigation, per FOX 35 Orlando.

Sheriff Grady Judd tells FOX 35 Orlando, "This kind of dishonest behavior is disgusting. He should never be trusted to work in law enforcement again. I commend the deputies who reported him." Register would go on to resign and Judd says he would have been terminated had he not. The investigation remains ongoing.
