This would be every surfer's nightmare. Not only seeing a shark in the water--but seeing it fly out of the water and come at you! That's what happened to this Florida surfer in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. It appears that a spinner shark jumped out of the water and hit the guy while sitting on his surfboard in the water! The video was shared on Instagram by @nsbinlet and @dj_kaye_ and now has more than 3,400 likes. The caption identified the shark as a spinner shark. Check out the viral video for yourself below. Can you imagine this happening to you?

That had to have been an incredibly scary moment for that Florida surfer! One of the commenters claims they were there with him in the water when it happened. That would have been wild to witness up close. That commenter says he still has all his limbs in tact, but I'd avoid using commenters on social media as references.
It appears this commenter may have good info, however. The story is being reported across many publications. According to The New York Post, Darren Kaye is the man seen on video off the coast of New Smyrna Beach and found himself head-to-head with the predator. Sounds like the area is known for having sharks frequent the area.
Kaye joked with WFTV 9 saying, "I was just really happy its mouth wasn't open." He continued, "I got right back on that board and my pulse went to like 195 beats a minute in a second and I paddled as fast as I could like out of the way." He described the impact as feeling like being slammed by a car, per The New York Post. Ouch!
Sounds like he hasn't let it stop him. He ended up surfing the rest of the weekend and seems just fine, per The New York Post. If I got hit by a flying shark it would probably take me a while to feel comfortable getting back in the water, but not him! He's already back at it doing what he loves. Good for him.
