Hot Or Not?: Woman Attacks Officers In Toledo Walmart
Today, we'll be meeting Dawn Wiard from Alpena, Michigan. According to 13 ABC, Wiard was arrested after allegedly attacking officers in a Toledo Walmart as they questioned her about malnourished animals they found inside her hot vehicle. It happened at a Walmart on Central Avenue in Toledo. Reports say her dog was locked in the vehicle looking distressed.
When officers arrived, the dog was barking and growling at people through the windows which were slightly opened. Officers could see the dog panting profusely and saw there was no water inside the vehicle. Additionally, there were 4 kitten and 2 cats inside animal crates in the vehicle and officers said 2 of them appeared to be deceased.
The animals were taken into custody and as that was happening officers went inside to try to locate Wiard which they were able to do. Wiard claimed they were not allowed to take her animals and claimed the dog was a service dog and ignored officers when they requested to see documentation. Shen then put an officer in a headlock, per 13 ABC. Another officer came to assist and put her in handcuffs as she tried to bite the officer.
The kittens were taken into custody by the Toledo Humane Society. Wiard was booked into Lucas County Jail on 7 counts of Cruelty to Animals, 1 count of Assault on a Peace Officer, and 1 count of Resisting Arrest, per 13 ABC. She's due back in court this week.
