Sometimes, we have stories that we can relate to. Maybe something similar has happened in our lives and we can compare and contrast the scenarios. For example, a dispute over the cost of a cab ride led to a shooting. Things didn't escalate that far in Dave's case but, he did have a cab fare dispute in Boston.
According to ABC7NY, "A 27-year-old taxi driver was shot in the Bronx during an apparent dispute over a $40 fare on Monday afternoon. Alusine Barrie got into the dispute with the 76-year-old passenger on Nelson Avenue near West 169th Street just after 4:30 p.m. Following the argument, Barrie got out of the taxi, and the passenger, Joseph Meeks, got out. When Barrie got back into the taxi, police say Meeks shot him in the abdomen. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he is said to be stable and had surgery on Tuesday."
So, Chuck says that remembers something similar happening when he and Dave took a cab in Boston. The driver told them the fee but, Dave didn't think it was right. He felt like they were being overcharged. So, Dave gave the cab driver less than he asked for and wasn't going to budge. Luckily, there was no altercation or shooting that took place.
Chuck was informed by some listeners in Boston that there is usually a flat fee for the drive they took and most people are just aware of the cost. However, after some research, Dave was probably right that they were being overcharged.
It's a ballsy move to not pay the cab driver what he asked for after the ride. Obviously, the man in the story was shot over such an incident.
Stay safe out there people!
