An Alaskan jogger was dragged by a bear "approximately 100 yards" outside of her home. She's now in critical condition.

The victim has been identified as Ariean Fabrizio Colton, according to PEOPLE. 36-year-old Colton was out on her morning job in Kenai just before 7am when she was attacked in her driveway. A public safety release obtained by PEOPLE reads, "A neighbor came outside and located her. The victim was medivac[ed] to an Anchorage area hospital with serious injuries. Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Kenai Police Department, and Alaska Department of Fish and Game personnel searched the area on foot and with a drone looking for a bear." The bear has not been located but a search is ongoing.

PEOPLE reports that the bear dragged her roughly 100 yards down the road onto a neighbor's property. When she was found she was in shock and bleeding from her face and scalp but was able to speak. The bear in question is believed to be a brown bear and reports say it may have been protecting food which caused it to become defensive.

People in the area were then asked to be on high alert. She remains in critical condition and hopefully she's able to recover fully. Living in Alaska, you're likely to encounter bears but you hope it's from a safe distance and doesn't happen when you aren't expecting it.
