When you're watching an acrobat do their performance you can't help but wonder, "how do they not fall?" or "what would happen if they fell?" Well, now we know. It happened to Aliane Dias during a circus performance in Miracema which is northeast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Video shows her falling in front of horrified spectators. The New York Post reports that paramedics rushed to help her and carried her out on a stretcher. Instead of blaming equipment or bad luck the circus is blaming her for the fall. Circo Robatiny tells The New York Post, "In this act, she is suspended by her hair from a steel cable, and the artist herself is responsible for tying it according to protocol. The reason is still unknown; we are awaiting her return and full recovery to learn more details."
Reports say the troupe carried on with its next show as scheduled as if nothing happened. Ouch. If I fall like that hopefully my teammates can take at least one show off out of respect.
