According to Daily Dot, "DoorDash unveiled “Dot” on Tuesday, its new autonomous delivery robot, promising to reshape neighborhood deliveries in Arizona. The announcement online was quickly met with skepticism, ridicule, and even threats of violence. The popular delivery app DoorDash promised in a press release that it will “accelerate local commerce,” starting with the cities of Tempe and Mesa, Arizona. “Reaching speeds of up to 20 mph, Dot is built for neighborhood trips to help local businesses meet growing consumer demand. Its all-electric design is right-sized for local delivery, helping reduce congestion and emissions, and resulting in fewer cars on the road and safer streets,” the statement reads."
For some reason, whenever one of these products is released people want to destroy it. Is it for social media clicks or because people are revolting against the bots?
I assume that the business will have to place the food into the robot and then you'll have to be present in order to receive your food. Unless the bot has some sort of retractable arm that will be able to leave your food for you at your doorstep.
We will have to wait on see if it's successful. And, we'll have to wait and see if anyone actually destroys it. We will not be hearing the last of the DoorDash delivery robot. I know that for sure!
