A chubby Illinois man was arrested after pretending to be Sammy Hagar. He kind of looks like him...a plus-sized version of him. It wasn't fooling anyone, honestly.

This is not a good idea. Even if you do have a slight resemblance to a celebrity, don't try to pretend to be them. If you don't look like the celebrity, then you definitely shouldn't try to pretend to be them. This chubby Illinois man was arrested after allegedly impersonating rock legend Sammy Hagar at several local businesses including 2 banks and a vape shop. Sammy needs his vapes! According to Yahoo!, 58-year-old Ronnie Putnam of Summersville, Illinois attempted to open accounts under the name Sammy Hagar Enterprises, LLC. Witnesses say he even performed an a cappella version of "I Can't Drive 55" by Hagar in an effort to prove his identity. I wish I could have seen that play out. Check out his mugshot from the Mount Vernon Police below.

Thankfully, it sounds like nobody was fooled as no money was exchanged and no accounts were opened.

He's now facing charges of fraud and disorderly conduct.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
