Florida Man Arrested For Smashing Pumpkins (Literally)

A Florida man has been arrested for smashing pumpkins. No, nothing to do with the band. He was arrested for literally smashing pumpkins and was charged with criminal mischief.

Today is the greatest, but not for everyone, I guess. According to The Smoking Gun, 31-year-old Aaron Thompson destroyed around 80 pumpkins in front of a Target in the Tampa Bay area. He was recorded on security camera picking up the pumpkins and smashing them onto the ground. He was arrested days later when he returned to the store and was asked if he could recognize the person in the video and admitted it was him. Why did he do it? According to The Smoking Gun, he told law enforcement that someone was messing with him on Facebook and it made him mad. That's not a great excuse! Be an adult!

It's estimated that the pumpkins he destroyed were worth $472.14 and he's been charged with felony criminal mischief and is now being held in the county jail. This isn't his first run-in with the law. He has previous convictions for burglary, battery, trespass, criminal mischief, and reckless driving. To add to the interesting story, he's a violist and used to perform with the Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra.
