There have been a ton of monkeys stories in the news lately. Some real, and then some fake. Today, we had one that sounds like it could be fake, but it's real. It's a story out of Mississippi, involving escaped monkeys that are infected with all sorts of diseases.

According to WAPT, "Authorities say three monkeys remain on the loose after a truck transporting research animals from Tulane University overturned Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 59, north of Heidelberg. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Tuesday evening that the number of missing monkeys has increased from one to three after Tulane officials were able to safely access the wrecked truck and conduct an updated count. Tulane staff arrived at the scene earlier than originally expected and are now actively searching the area for the missing animals. The sheriff’s office warned that the monkeys have “several conditions” and are considered dangerous to humans. Residents are urged not to approach them and to call law enforcement immediately if they are spotted."

Like I said, it sounds fake. Escaped monkeys that have a bunch of diseases? Well, it's real. After hearing the call from the truck driver about the escape, we had a phone call of our own. Chuck was pretending to be a dispatcher that was calling in the monkey escape. The story started with one monkey, but we found out that there were actually three missing monkeys reported. So, Chuck was reporting somewhere between 4 and 100 missing monkeys. And, the conditions they had kept getting more outrageous.

It's getting harder and harder to tell what is real these days. Keep your eyes open!
