Is December 26th The Worst Day Of The Year?

Is it safe to say that December 26th is the worst day of the year? It certainly feels like it every single year!

There's nothing like waking up on Christmas morning. It's the benchmark for happiness and joy. Whenever people want to compare what just happened to them to something great, or the best feeling ever--what do they say? "It's like waking up on Christmas morning!" There's magic, nostalgia--everything you could ask for. However, when December 26th rolls around...things are a little bit different. The day before you woke up with so much joy and there was a special feeling! Now, today? Nothing. It's just another day. It's back to reality. Is December 26th the worst day of the year every year? I'm starting to think it's in the running.

Of course, there are other tragic days that are awful on the calendar every year. 9/11 is always mournful and a day of remembrance. You might have a specific day that a family member passed away or maybe you got dumped or divorced. That day will stick out. However, there's still December 26th.

It marks the end of the holiday season in a way. Sure, there's still New Year's Eve, but c'mon. It goes from "Christmas season" to just winter. While Christmas might be over, you realize you still have many months of this cold and gray to go. On top of that, there's now work to be done. You have to decide if it's already time to take down the tree, or if you want to wait until March to do that. You have to fill up several bags with loose wrapping paper scrapped from tearing open the gifts. You have to go return the gifts that the kids didn't like or didn't quite fit and that's a stressful situation. December 26th is basically National Return Day.

Is December 26th the worst day of the year? It's definitely up there. Bah humbug.
