A New Jersey man is going viral after trying to use Google Translate during a robbery attempt at a restaurant. It didn't go as he had planned, which many of us could have guessed.

Learning another language is hard! It can be very frustrating not being able to communicate or understand another language when you're trying to speak with someone who doesn't use the same language as you. Google Translate can be a useful tool but not always! According to New Jersey News 12, a New Jersey man tried to rob Mi Rinconcito Ecuatoriano and he doesn't appear to be the smoothest criminal out there. If I was committing crimes, I would want to get in and out as quickly as possible. Using Google Translate might slow things down a bit. See a video report shared by CBS New York on YouTube below.

The incident happened at Mi Rinconcito Ecuatoriano in Newark, New Jersey. According to New Jersey News 12, the suspect walked into the restaurant on South Street back on February 20th and used Google Translate to inform employees that he was robbing them. Reports say he then tried to steal the cash register before running out.

Maria, the owner of the restaurant, tells New Jersey News 12, "A man came to buy a coffee, and he bought a coffee and then he wanted to keep the money. And when [the cashier] told him to take it, he didn't take it and got angry, he threw the coffee at her and then he thew a case that was on the table at her."

Sounds like the area is known for its Hispanic population and this suspect does not speak Spanish which caused an issue during the robbery. Read more from New Jersey News 12.
