Mix-Up at The Gas Pump: Trading Unleaded for Diesel

Imagine making this kind of mistake on your own. Filling up your tank with diesel fuel, when your car takes unleaded. For a Michigan Meijer gas station, that was the case a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't imagine mixing the gases up, I don't know much about cars, but I do know that putting diesel in a regular gas take will cause a mess of issues.

It happened at a Meijer express gas station in Clinton Township, Michigan. Costumers who bought fuel were alerted via email that there was a mix up and some cars may have gotten the wrong fuel. Meijer said some pumps were fueling up with Diesel, others with a mixture of both fuels. One costumer said after a few days of driving he noticed white smoke coming from the engine. Since he has taking it into the dealership for repair. Unfortunately, most are still waiting on Meijer to pay for the repair cost. Some say Meijer offered them 100 thousand Meijer points. Problem is that only evens out to about 76 dollars in gas.

In a statement from the Meijer, that promised to make it right and said they shut down the pumps as soon as they found out. They are putting blame on the third party that filled the gas pumps.
