Why was Disney's Haunted Mansion temporarily shut down? Well, someone chose to do something special there that others didn't appreciate.

They say Disney World is the most magical place on earth. Some people appreciate it more than others. I'm sure you have some people in your life who are Disney-obsessed and it's their favorite place to visit and vacation. Maybe they have special memories with family there, maybe they're a Disney Adult, or maybe they just like the nice weather. It could hold special meaning to people and that's understandable. However, just because it is special to your and/or your loved ones doesn't mean you can spread ashes on the Haunted Mansion ride.

According to Inside The Magic, the Haunted Mansion ride was temporarily closed and evacuated after a guest reportedly attempted to scatter human ashes during the popular attraction. It sounds like this has been a recurring issue in theme parks over the years but it creates a significant disruption for guests and requires an immediate response from the park staff.

A report, shared by a park guest, describes the act of selfishness saying, "As I write this, Haunted Mansion is down and being evacuated due to someone spreading human ashes on the ride. Aside from the selfishness of the act, your loved one's ashes are going to be vacuumed up into a bucket with mouse droppings and other detritus and thrown in the garbage. I can't think of a more ignominious end to someone I cared for. Plus, if we can identify who did it (there are cameras all throughout the ride), you're probably going to be trespassed from all Disney property. IOW, please don't do this," via Inside The Magic.

That's a good point that I never really thought about. While it might seem special and that they'll spend eternity on the ride they loved, it's going to be taken care of and put in the garbage and that's not what you would want nor what they would want.
