Tom Holland Is Taking A Year Break From Acting After ‘Tough Time’
We won’t see Tom Holland for a while. The actor wrapped up filming on his new AppleTV+ series, The Crowded Room and needs a break. The English actor revealed in a new interview with Extra this week that he will be taking a year-long break from acting after having a “tough time.”

Holland, 27, said, “We were exploring certain emotions that I have definitely never experienced before. And then on top of that, being a producer, dealing with the day-to-day problems that come with any film set, just added that extra level of pressure.” He added that he felt really “aligned” with his character. Serving as the lead and producer of the show, Tom stressed the importance of telling a story about mental health, specifically brought on by trauma.
Hard Work Is Good Work
The actor told Extra, “I’m now taking a year off, and that is a result of how difficult this show was.” Despite being difficult, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star said he “really enjoyed” working on psychological thriller series and “loved the learning curve of becoming a producer.” Holland is “no stranger to hard work.”
The actor tells Extra he’s “always lived by this idea that hard work is good work. And I really enjoyed it.” But then again, the show ultimately broke the actor when he put him through emotions he’s never felt before. After he hit that breaking point, he decided, “I need to have a break.” He took off to Mexico for a week and “disappeared.” The actor didn’t seem sad about the show taking this sort of toll on him, as he added, “I am excited to see how it turns out, and I feel like our hard work wasn’t in vain.”
