Is Diddy’s Career Over After The Leaked Video?
Diddy has been exposed with irrefutable proof of abusing his former partner. Following the horrifying footage CNN obtained last week, Diddy’s career might be in jeopardy.
Diddy’s Career Hangs In The Balance
According to that “smoking gun” video of the “Bad Boy for Life” singer/rapper, an entertainment lawyer told Business Insider that the footage could help plaintiffs in other civil suits against him bolster their cases.
As we reported on Friday (May 17), surveillance footage from March 2016 appeared to show the Grammy-Award-winning producer assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles.
What Was In The Footage?
The security camera footage is disturbing and can be triggering. Over two minutes long, Diddy, now 54, is seen running in the hotel hallway and grabbing Cassie, now 37, who was standing outside of the elevators. Seemingly looking as though she is trying to leave in a rush and unnoticed, Diddy grabs her by the hoodie or the back of her head/neck and throws her onto the floor. He is only wearing a white towel around his waist as he kicks her. She remains motionless on the carpeted floor, and he kicks her again. She then moves her hand to cover and rub the spot he kicked.
He then pulls her by her arm and tries to drag her back to where he came from. The video then shows court documents that state that Diddy was “extremely intoxicated” and punched Cassie “in the face, giving her a black eye.” After he fell asleep, Cassie attempted to leave, according to the documents. The footage seems to show how Diddy attempted to stop her from doing so.
Cassie’s Case
The video corroborates a similar incident detailed in Cassie's November lawsuit against the father of seven. As we reported, Cassie reached an undisclosed settlement with Diddy for her sexual assault lawsuit and declined to comment on the video.
However, her lawyer, Douglas H. Wigdor, said: “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
Diddy’s Responses
In a previous statement to Business Insider, a lawyer for Diddy said he denied the allegations made in the suit and accused Cassie of trying to “blackmail” him. She was accused of “filing a lawsuit riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combs’s reputation and seeking a payday.”
In a NSFW video posted to his official Instagram account on Sunday, Diddy apologized for his actions. However, he didn’t blatantly specify his statement in relation to the leaked footage because he also didn’t mention Cassie by name. In his apology, he called his actions “inexcusable” and said he sought therapy and has been off drugs.
Social Media Thinks Diddy’s Career Is Over
Folks didn’t buy into Diddy’s “I’m truly sorry” apology video. In the comments section, they came for him with things like, “I can only imagine what happened to her after you dragged her back into the room.” Another said, “You called her a liar. Time did exactly what it was supposed to, and you deserve every awful thing that’s coming your way.” A third stated: “How we go from ‘these slanderous and heinous allegations’ to ‘I’m sorry for my actions’…. Nah bro we don’t believe you. You’re just sorry the proof came out.”
Another person called him out and commented, “Are [you] just sorry because the world saw it? If you are sorry, publicly offer her an apology.” Added another, “You’re only sorry you got caught. And that’s the sad part.” Meanwhile, one person said, “U apologized for ONE thing out of the millions of things you’ve done to people over the years [laughing emoji].” Another mocked his apology method and wrote, “Should’ve just let the PR team tell you what to say…cause this ain’t it.”
Stated another: “You’re not asking for forgiveness because you meant to do what you did at that time, and you’re truly ‘sorry’, for your actions being displayed in 2024. Deuces.”
