Have you ever heard of someone having a cheese addiction? Not just a playful thing--a real addiction that they need help with? It happened to Adela Cojab. Here's more on the story!

Some people really love cheese. You can't blame them! It's tasty and you can eat it at any time of day. It goes great with crackers, on sandwiches, and you can eat it all by itself. However, you have to be careful with your cheese consumption. You could end up addicted!

According to the New York Post, Adela Cojab is a Manhattan law school student who was so hooked on cheese she had to go to rehab to help end her appetite for the dairy product. The New York Post reports she would binge bricks of white cheddar and Parmesan almost daily! Entire bricks? That can't be good for you!

Her addiction to cheese was so bad she had to spend $10,000 on rehab for a cheese addiction! That's a lot of cheddar--literally. Cojab tells The New York Post, "I stopped by either Morton Williams or by Whole Foods and I would just buy cheese, and I would literally just eat a block of cheese with my hands. It was the only thing that would make me feel somewhat whole." Okay, this is legitimately a real problem it sounds like!

According to Dr. Neal Barnard, cheese can be addictive due to the high concentration of fat and salt in the food in addition to a protein known as casein that can get people mildly hooked, per The New York Post.

The cheese addiction did cause some serious issues to her health and body. According to the New York Post, she stopped menstruating for five months during her addiction and was at risk for Type 2 diabetes. It appears that she's doing much better now. She's dropped about 20 pounds and Ozempic helped deal with the risk of diabetes, per The New York Post. She looks happy and healthy. At the end of the day that's all you can really ask for! Never heard of someone going to rehab for a cheese addiction.
