Avenged Sevenfold Launching ‘Digital Museum’ on Fortnite Honoring Their 25th Anniversary
Avenged Sevenfold is celebrating its 25th anniversary in a unique way by launching a digital museum in Fortnite.
The band said in a statement in the YouTube caption of the video below, “25 years have absolutely flown by. We wanted to do something to mark the occasion of our vast history by not just looking backwards but also forward. We started throwing around the idea of a gallery or museum of sorts to display art and eras of the band, but it was important to us to reach more people virtually.”
A7X continued, “With ‘The Museum’, fans are able to control their own narrative as well as unlock hidden meanings, recordings and easter eggs. This project quickly got larger and larger as we worked with our friend Ryan McKinnon over the last year. What we have now is basically a fully virtual gallery, experience and escape room. We hope you enjoy taking a trip down memory lane with us.”
The added, “You do not need to be a gamer to enjoy this. This is more casual so that with a little problem solving, you can make your way through the experience. We hope some of you create ‘play through guides’ — which we will repost. Today, ‘Nightmare’ has also been included on Fortnite Festival. It will join ‘Hail to the King.’
A7X concluded, “To experience ‘The Museum’ please download Fortnite on any device. When prompted with the search bar please enter island code 5592-6865-3961.”
In addition to the 25th anniversary of the band, Avenged Sevenfold is celebrating two album anniversaries in 2025: City of Evil turns 20, and Nightmare turns 15. If fans are hoping for something special to honor these albums, then it looks like they’re in luck.
Guitarist Zacky Vengeance told NME in June that the band is doing something to honor those anniversaries, but he did not divulge any details.
He noted, “I never want to be a nostalgia act. I’ve always wanted to be proud of whatever we put out today as I was when we put out those albums, but I’m totally cool with celebrating those albums because it was such a great place and time.”
Vengeance further noted that he doesn’t want A7X to “back out entire career off past successes,” but he’s all for recognizing the work that got the band to where they are today. And who could blame them? How many bands these days have their kind of success and last for 25 years?
