Was a car trapped in a parking garage for 2 years? It was and the story of how it happened is crazy.

When you enter a parking garage, you always expect that you'll have no problem leaving. It's implied. You enter, you stay, you pay, you leave. That's how it always goes. Or, how it should always go at least. For Mark Lucas, of Buckinghamshire, England, that was not the case. His car has been trapped in a parking garage for 2 years! Sounds like when he entered the parking garage in 2023 with his company van there were mechanical lifts and platforms that allowed cars to be stacked above and below one another to allow more vehicles in the garage. Well, it sounds like his vehicle was placed on one that had an equipment malfunction! It was stuck!

According to BBC, when he was told about the malfunction he was assured he would have his van back soon. While he waited, he had to rent another van which cost more than $1K per month. Eventually, he learned that the parts needed could take 40 months to arrive and be installed. At that point, Lucas and his business partner decided it would be best to just buy a new van for $51K, per BBC.

Sounds like the time it was expected to be done kept getting bumped back and bumped back and now it's 2025, 2 years later, and and it's still on the lift! This would be a nightmare. I'm going to be so scared any time I have to go into a parking garage now. Will I be guaranteed that I'll be able to get my car out within the next 2 years? I certainly hope so! That would be very unpleasant and inconvenient.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
