If you were to survey people on what they’d call the distinctive sounds of summer, the music of the ice cream truck would surely be near the top of the list.
According to reports, in Gloucester Township, New Jersey the complaint of one neighbor ruined the ice cream experience for an entire neighborhood.
In the neighborhood of Blackwood, someone took offense to the loud music of the ice cream truck, which forced the driver to cease all visits to that neighborhood. Representatives for Mr. Softee say they take complains seriously, and if…for example…a driver is blaring that jingly tune after 10 pm, they’ll agree to knock it off.
Sometimes, however, someone will complain that their baby is napping at two in the afternoon. In those cases, drivers can opt to turn the music down when stopped or stop driving that route entirely.
Fortunately, someone who also lives in Blackwood found the driver on social media and convinced him that Mr. Softee is indeed welcome in their community.
