Per The Smoking Gun, officers say Lessa became belligerent after they confronted him for throwing “gator nuggets.” If you aren’t familiar with gator nuggets, they’re like chicken nuggets…only with gator. That’s when he turned his attention to the manatee mannequin.
A report obtained by The Smoking Gun details the alleged molestation of the manatee mannequin. However, no further details are available. The Smoking Gun points out that he did this in front of onlookers.
After being confronted by police, Lessa ran from the restaurant and caused a commotion at a nearby hotel. The Smoking Gun reports he then cursed at a front desk employee and yelled obscenities in the parking lot.
Lessa was charged with “disorderly intoxication-disturbance” according to The Smoking Gun. He has since been booked into jail on the misdemeanor count. He was released from police custody on Sunday.
Manatees In Florida
Manatees are often found in shallow, slow-moving rivers, according to SaveTheManatee.org. Here in the U.S., manatees are concentrated in Florida during the winter.
