This guy took “get off my lawn!” to a new level. Look, nobody wants to be a victim of a classic ding-dong-ditch. It’s inconvenient and annoying. However, you cannot react this way! A man has been arrested after shooting at ding-dong-ditchers!
The Eagle Mountain, Utah man is now facing six counts of aggravated assault. Here’s the story.
Man Arrested After Shooting At Ding-Dong-Ditchers
KUTV reports Michael Roberts, 71, walked out of his house and onto the porch where he began firing a gun at a car full of teenagers. Law enforcement confirmed there were two significant dents on the rear passenger side door.
According to KUTV, the man told police, “for weeks juveniles have been coming to his house on the weekends and have been doorbell ditching his residence.” It remains unclear if it was a real firearm he was shooting or some sort of airsoft gun. However, officers did find a gray plastic ball on the street that matched what was still in the magazine of the gun used in the incident, per KUTV.
The man claimed that he had been ding-dong-ditched several times over recent weeks, and had phoned the police regarding it many times, per KUTV. Roberts now is facing six aggravated assault charges and a criminal mischief charge.
I fully understand that getting ding-dong-ditched is annoying. Honestly, it’s even annoying when someone rings your bell and stays there. It doesn’t matter if they leave or stay, it’s inconvenient. I didn’t even realize kids were still doing this. Back in my day (oh no, I’m aging myself), we didn’t have to worry about Ring cameras on doors. Granted, we also never had to worry about a guy coming out with a shotgun after some innocent pranking. Sure, we got yelled and cursed at…but never shot at. That’s taking things a bit too far. I wonder if the kids will return and try it again just to see if they can finally tip him completely over.
Of course, this isn’t the only time ding-dong-ditching has gone wrong. Check out some other examples below!

Peep Show: The Best Of Chuck The Freak
Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
