Woman Who Called The Cops On Her Date Facing Charges
Ghosting culture has gone too far! It’s always a bummer when you get ghosted. As much as it hurts to get rejected, it’s so much better to hear “no” than to be met with silence for weeks. It’s so much better to just hear no and rip off the band aid. Unfortunately, people don’t want to come off mean to their dates so they revert to cowardice like ghosting. However, this is so much worse than even ghosting!
Can you imagine showing up for your date only for the cops to show up as if you’ve done something wrong? That would be horrible! Especially if you were really looking forward to the date! The Smoking Gun reports Sumaya Thomas, 18, got cold feet before her first date and dialed 911 in an effort to avoid the awkward date.
In a detailed criminal complaint, Thomas, who lives in Iowa, called the police to say that her abusive ex-boyfriend had shown up outside her residence and was sending threats to her via SnapChat. The Smoking Gun reports that Thomas even told police that she has known this man for years and was even pregnant with his baby. The truth was far from that. The pair had only recently met on a dating app and had been exchanging text messages before arranging to finally meet in person. Well, that was the plan at least before she got cold feet.
According to The Smoking Gun, the man was apprehended by police as he was leaving and then had to explain the truth and what was going on. He was able to show previous text messages with Thomas that confirmed his story. Finally, Thomas admitted to the truth and that she got cold feet and no longer wanted to go on the date.
She has since been charged for placing a false 911 call and making a fake report of an indictable offense. You can check out her mugshot from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
