Peruvian Fisherman Survives 95 Days Lost At Sea
A Peruvian fisherman spent 95 days lost at sea. That’s like 3 months! How did he possibly survive that?
61-year-old Maximo Napa is a Peruvian fisherman who just spent 95 days lost at sea. He was understandably incredibly emotional when he finally made it back to land and says he kept thinking about his mom and 2-month-old granddaughter to keep him going. Sounds like he survived on rainwater and by eating birds, turtles, and even cockroaches! When a patrol boat finally found him outside of Ecuador, he had reportedly gone 15 days without eating anything! The Peruvian fisherman had been gone since December 7th and was 680 miles from shore. See a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) detailing what happened below.

How crazy is that? You’d never expect to survive 95 days lost at sea. He has since been discharged from the hospital. Peruvian Navy port captain Jorge Gonzalez tells CBS News, “Mr. Napa arrived in good physical condition. He could walk, wash himself. Shocked, but in good physical condition.” Weather conditions are to blame for the Peruvian fisherman losing course and his small boat didn’t have a radio beacon.
His daughter tells a radio station, “It is a miracle that my father has been found. We, as a family, never gave up hope of finding him,” per CBS News.
