Rob Halford Shares Mistake He Made When Visiting AC/DC at Power Trip
Rob Halford made an unintended mistake when he went to visit AC/DC backstage at the 2023 festival event Power Trip.
The Metal God details the incident to Metal Hammer, saying he and tour manager Gideon Hogan stopped by AC/DC’s backstage rehearsal area after Judas Priest’s set. The backstage area had a security guard out front, and when Halford and Hogan approached, only Halford was allowed in.
Upon entering the backstage area, Halford got the impression that he maybe made a mistake, considering this was AC/DC’s first live set since 2016. However, singer Brian Johnson, who was relaxing on a couch with a cigarette, greeted Halford. The two singers had a “brief chat,” and then Halford said his goodbyes and good lucks and to “give my love to Angus [Young] and everybody else.”
As Halford explains it, Hogan said “sh-t’s hit the fan,” because the security guard was told by Young that no visitors were allowed considering the steaks of AC/DC’s set.
Halford admitted, “It was my bad for not really giving it second thoughts. But you know me, I’ll just burst into anybody’s dressing room!”
Rob Halford Had Another Issue At Power Trip
The Metal God’s low-key error with AC/DC was the cherry on top of a day that was likely more stressful than expected for Judas Priest. In January, Halford told Ultimate Classic Rock that he and the band almost didn’t make their set.
So, why did Priest almost miss their Power Trip set? Apparently, Southern California’s infamous traffic had the band getting to the venue with very little time to spare.
“I think we got there with barely an hour and a half to get ready to go out on stage for the first time in over seven months,” recalled Halford. “But we did it … That’s rock and roll right there.”
As previously reported, Priest announced at Power Trip their 19th studio album will be titled Invincible Shield, which is out now.
