Are You Trying To Get Drunk At The Funeral Home?
When people are mourning, they like to ease the pain with some booze. Usually, it’s after the funeral, back at the house with your family and friends. How about drinking while at the funeral home? You can now do that in Ohio come February of 2025.
According to ABC6, “A north side funeral home could soon serve mourners in a new way: alcohol. ‘Evergreen Funeral Cremation and Reception’ is set to open next year. They applied for a liquor license and could soon be serving people during services. Owners tell WSYX that this is a unique twist to a celebration of life, and they want to change how people view an average funeral.”
This will be one of the first of it’s kind in the United States. Do you think it’s a good idea? I’m sure there are people who have little “nips” and flasks, drinking away the grief at funeral homes anyway. But, it does at the same time, seem a little out of place to have a bar serving drinks during the service.

How long before something goes wrong? Uncle gets a little too loaded like a Holiday gathering and then there’s a big fight, etc. We’ll be waiting for the stories to come out of Ohio with a big funeral fight.
The owner, is a younger guy named Hunter Triplett. He says he just wants to bring a little bit of fun to the funeral. Turn it into sort of a party, he says, in so many words.
We’ll have to wait and see how it goes. We don’t see this popping up all over the place but, you never know!
